Kejriwal Leads Delhi Protest Against E20 Petrol Policy, Raises Fuel Safety Concerns

Aam Aadmi Party leader Kejriwal led a Delhi march against the E20 petrol policy on August 4, accusing the government of consumer harm while supporters raised vehicle repair concerns linked to the fuel blend.

Aam Aadmi Party leader Kejriwal on August 4 led a march in Delhi against the government’s E20 petrol policy, accusing the government of introducing the fuel blend under pressure from the United States and claiming that it could harm ordinary vehicles while forcing consumers to bear additional costs.

During the protest, supporters displayed a 2025 Skoda Slavia vehicle that they claimed required injector repairs after covering just 16,000 km. They blamed the repair issue on the E20 fuel blend, raising concerns over its impact on vehicle performance and maintenance.

Kejriwal demanded that pure petrol options should be made available everywhere, along with cheaper E20 fuel and an overall reduction in petrol prices. He alleged that the current policy was affecting consumers and questioned the impact of the fuel mixture on everyday vehicles.

The government has defended E20 petrol, stating that the blend supports better combustion, strengthens energy security, and benefits farmers. Automakers have also confirmed that compatible vehicles do not face warranty-related issues due to the use of E20 fuel.
